Do you know what it took for you to be reading these words? For thousands of generations, not a single one of your ancestors succumbed to an illness, starved, was decapitated or trampled by a mammoth before passing on the torch to the next generation. (Trust me, there were some crazy close calls!) The odds of this happening? Practically zero. Yet here you stand as the dazzling result of an incredible chain of events. Clearly, you don’t let odds get in your way. It’s almost like the universe really, really wanted you to exist. (Wink!) So, how will you spend this one precious life you’ve been given? P.S. Talking about close calls. Your great-great..400x…grandad was a mammoth-magnet. Nearly got flattened… twice! It’s truly a wonder you’re here.
Imagine a giant mansion with countless rooms. There’s a room for every feeling. There’s a grumpy room, a happy room and, of course, a “why always me” room (cue dramatic sigh). You move from room to room based on how you feel. But here’s the catch: When you’re hanging out in the “complainer room,” all you can see, hear, and talk to are fellow complainers (and their endless rants about the price of avocados!). You can’t even hear the conga line happening in the “happy room” down the hall. Even when peering outside, your view is tainted by the windows of your room. Just more stuff to whine about out there! Your world shrinks to the size of your room. Now imagine this mansion is the size of a planet. Let’s give it a cool name. How about “Earth”? Yep, nailed it. Starting to see how this planet works? So, what room do you usually hang out in? P.S. You’ll find me in the “loving life” room, where we don’t take things too seriously, trust that everything works out, and have epic board game nights. Just follow the smell of popcorn or join the conga line!
I know it sucks. People can be annoying, Your boss seems impossible, And your favourite series got cancelled (again!) But here’s a secret: See it all as a signpost. It’s not in your life to annoy you, but you help you . Whenever you feel angry, frustrated, or worried, it shows you where you’re still not free. Once you see that, everything becomes a gift pointing you to your happiness. Yes, even your boss. So, in a way, your boss is (unwittingly) working for you. P.S. The cancelled series is a bummer, though…Just as it was getting good!
A scary storm to the fisherman is just a fun splash to the ocean. The playful dance of the ocean looks like menacing waves to a boat. Life only seems intimidating if you think of yourself as separate from it. You are not a little boat bobbing helplessly on the sea of Life. You are the ocean itself. And as long as you see yourself as a little boat on the ocean of Life, you’ll always feel seasick. P.S. Technically, that means you’re also responsible for the sinking of the Titanic. Shame on you! “I love you, Jack…JAAACK!!!!
See that tiny dot? That’s your soon-to-be home. It doesn’t look much from up here but don’t be fooled. You’re in for an adventure! This planet isn’t a top choice for souls without reason. Gorgeous mountains, stunning beaches, they even have chocolate fountains! And just wait till you meet the locals! But life on Earth isn’t just tacos and ice cream (Though there’s plenty of that, too!) You’ll encounter illness, loss, disappointments, and heartbreak. (Don’t worry; it’s just a human saying. Your heart won’t actually break. It might sting a bit, though.) Do you think you would have entered this life if you were not equipped to handle all that? In fact, there’s no challenge on Earth you can’t tackle. When they show up, so will the strength and wisdom to face them. It’s a neat little system I’ve put in place. P.S. Notice I said, “When they show up”? That part is important. Enjoy your time on Earth!
Your mood is like a radio station. And the thoughts you receive match the station you’re on. If you’re feeling down, “Poor Me FM” will serve you its greatest hits. They play classics like “Why Does This Keep Happening to Me? 🎸” and “Why Can’t I Do Anything Right?” These tunes have been at the top of the charts for ages! No wonder! Some people replay them their entire lives. Don’t expect to find positivity on “Life sucks 66.2 FM.” They don’t have uplifting thoughts on their playlists! You have to switch to a more uplifting station to think better thoughts. What station have you been tuning into today? Rock on! Life P.S. I prefer “Life Rocks FM” myself. They always play bangers. I should know, I am the DJ! 🎧
Is this your address? Pale Blue Dot, Solar System #234 9438, Milky Way Drive Well, then, you’re right at home. Why walk around like you don’t belong? Don’t apologize for being alive. Don’t be afraid to take up space and express yourself. I did not put you on this planet by mistake. You are needed here; otherwise, you wouldn´t be here. (And trust me, I triple-checked the planet. ´Cause I´m not making that mistake again. What a mess that was…) You have as much right to be here as any tree, flower or star. You deserve love and kindness as much as anyone who has ever lived. You belong here. Love, President of your Fan Club P.S. On the plus side, my minor “oops, wrong planet”- incident inspired some fantastic movies.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s your first time here. (unless there is something you didn’t tell me) You were thrown into this chaotic world without warning. And you were not even given an instruction manual! (My bad. I swear it’s on my to-do list) It doesn’t help that you are surrounded by other first-timers who have no clue, either. (although some of them pretend they do) But look at you, how far you have come. Be kind to yourself. It’s your first time being human. (That’s one time more than me) And let me tell you, you’re acing your first attempt at “humaning”! P.S. Ever heard something new and felt as if you’ve known it all along? Maybe I did sneak an instruction manual into your soul’s backpack.
Welcome to the Cosmic Complaint Department! Every grumble, every frustrated “this shouldn’t have happened” lands on my desk here. As you can see from this pile of letters, humans have much to complain about. That’s nothing, though; you should see this place on Monday mornings. Oh, look. I got a complaint from you Ticket #743,291,842 Since you’re already here, why don’t we resolve this together? Look, I get why humans complain. Venting makes you feel better when life feels unfair. It draws sympathies, garners attention, and makes a fantastic conversation starter. Also, it used to work wonders with your mom. But while it might feel good, it doesn’t work. In fact, complaining has the opposite effect; You always get more of what you complain about …this is why this blasted pile of tickets keeps growing When I´d rather be wrapping up the shiny new galaxy I’ve been crafting. And here comes yet another ticket! And it is from….oh wow…ME. Oh boy, this is awkward. See what I mean?
Here is a “travel hack” for you: Look where you are with different eyes, and you´ll find yourself in a different place. Without having to take a single step (Plus, you save yourself baggage fees and immigration lines) P.S. And now imagine you looked at yourself with new eyes…
